Advisory Board Member -
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per month
Location: Mostly in-home with 2 meetings/year in Portland
Requirements: An interest in providing strategic advice to our Board of Directors
The Advisory Board is a collection of people who have various experiences in the professional sector and/or also personal lived experiences that pertain directly to the populations we serve (i.e. a member of the LGBTQ community, a member of a community of color, etc.). The role of an Advisory Board member is to provide strategic advice, guidance and oversight to our Board of Directors on a range of topics such as, but not limited to financial decisions, development and marketing decisions, or expansion of the organization into new geographical areas. You will not have an official voting position within our organization nor any responsibility for final decisions made by the Board of Directors. The Advisory Board as a group will meet twice a year with the Board of Directors. Individual Advisory Board members may be contacted at various times throughout their service term to offer their specific knowledge on a relevant topic.
Fundraising Committee Member -
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours a month (will increase leading up to fundraising events)
Requirements: Experience in fundraising development and/or planning in for profit or nonprofit business
We are an organization that relies heavily on individual and business donations. In order to increase our capacity to reach more communities in need of high quality soccer we need to increase our fundraising efforts and diversify our fundraising campaigns. If you are someone who has experience in creating engaging fundraising campaigns, events, online platforms, etc. we would love your help. Currently we hold a large fundraiser in the spring which would require an increase in hours per month of volunteer work during that time. You would work with a committee of other volunteers to collaborate on new ideas of how to bring more funds into the organization. We know there is a great need for our organization in Portland and the more funding we can secure the greater our impact!
Marketing Volunteer -
Time Commitment - 6-8 hours a month
Requirements: Experience in marketing in either for profit or nonprofit business
As a relatively new non-profit organization it is important that we increase our visibility within the Portland area and beyond in order to bring in more volunteers, donors, participants and community partners. We need someone who is passionate about our mission of increasing accessibility of high quality soccer to marginalized communities and who has an understanding of how to advertise what we offer not only to our consumers, but also to potential donors, community partners and sponsors. You don't have to know a thing about how the game of soccer is played but just a passion for creating social change through soccer and marketing!
Time Commitment - 2-4 hours a month
Location: Our practice field Cully Park (5810 NE 72nd Ave) during Fall, Spring, Summer and occasionally games at various Portland fields
Requirements: Experience in high quality action photography
The saying "a picture says a thousand words" is absolutely true in our organization. Our mission to offer high quality, low-cost soccer may be simple to say but when it comes to communicating what that mission looks like on the field it's photographs that really captures the unique and special qualities of our organization. We need someone who has knowledge in how to capture not only those high action moments on the field, but also the subtle moments shared between a coach and a player or the moments of when communities of people from various life experiences share the joy of their team scoring a goal. This position does require travel out to our practice field 1-2 times a month and also a game or two on the weekends at least once a month. You will also need to have your own photography equipment. If you do not have your own transportation please note that in the message section of the volunteer form and we can discuss possible financial assistance for public transportation/ride share options.
Social Media Volunteer -
Time Commitment - 1-2 hours a week
Location: Anywhere there's internet connection
Requirements: Experience in social media management in either for profit or nonprofit business
If you're reading this you already know that social media is fast paced, constantly changing and sometimes frustrating. And if you have experience in managing multiple social media platforms we'd love your help. Currently our organization primarily uses Facebook and Instagram to connect with our supporters, families and partners. We know we could be doing so much more to stay current in everyone's feeds on those platforms and more. We aren't requiring that you have soccer experience or knowledge, but it would be preferred since this position would require connecting with other soccer enthusiasts. This position would be done mostly from wherever you have internet connection, but in order to get a true sense of how unique our organization is we would also really like you to come out and visit a few practices or games a couple times a month.
