Volunteer recruiting captain

One of our greatest needs as we look to grow and increase our capacity is to build up our volunteer support for various roles. As captain you would be the point person for helping us to recruit, train and manage those volunteers. This role is done in collaboration with our Executive Director.

Time Commitment: Approx. 10-15 hours per month

Qualifications

  • Experience in using and managing online platforms such as Google Docs and Sheets.

  • Experience in working with people with various lived experiences, especially those from marginalized communities.

  • Organized, clear communicator and adaptable to the revolving door of volunteer work.

  • Previous experience in managing volunteers is a plus, but not required.

Highest Priority Responsibilities

  • Assist Fundraising Event Captain for annual fundraiser in September

  • Manages the monthly club volunteer calendar

  • Creates agenda/content for new non-coaching volunteer orientations

  • Co-facilitate orientations with the Executive Director

  • Manages non-coaching volunteer meetings and info-sessions

  • Plans volunteer appreciation events

  • Assists in recruiting new volunteers (non-coaching and coaching)

  • Works with social media Team Captain and team on social media posts

  • Conducts initial screening of volunteer applications

Requirements

90% remote ; approx. 10% in-person availability for day of fundraising event


Fundraising event captain

Time Commitment: 10 hours/month (this increases in the final 30 days before the event).

As Captain you would be working with a group of Team Members to assist our Executive Director and Board Members in coordinating our annual September fundraiser.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fundraising development and/or planning

  • Experience in managing teams

  • Experience in creating engaging fundraising campaigns, events, online platforms

Highest Priority Responsibilities

  • We hold our large annual fundraiser in September which would require an increase in hours per month of volunteer work during that time.

  • As a captain, you will commit to making sure the following items move forward:

    • Outreach to donors for auction items

    • Securing the venue (when in-person) or coordinating the virtual event on a virtual fundraising platform.

    • Coordination of sponsors.

  • Point person for all the donated auction items, developing a presentation of items, developing a run of show for the day of event.

Foodbox program captain

Time Commitment: Bi-weekly (Sundays) 10am-2pm. Two hours to organize, 1-2 hours for home deliveries. Approximately 10 hours per month.

Qualifications

Willingness to work alongside our Program Director, who is already managing this program, as well as current volunteers. Will assist Program Director with administrative tasks. This means coordinating food deliveries, food box distribution and arranging for volunteer drivers. May potentially involve purchasing supplies using Club procurement card.

Requirements

This is one of the few in person volunteer positions. Availability bi-weekly (Sundays) 10am-2pm. Two hours to organize, 1-2 hours for home deliveries. You'll need to provide your own transportation. Approximately 10 hours per month.

Bi-lingual English–Spanish a plus!
