Portland Organizations Unite for First-Ever “Lit & Play Day” Focused on Youth Growth, Literacy, and Sport
PCFC is proud to celebrate the success of our first free “Lit & Play Day,” a collaborative community event that brought together soccer, literacy, and mindset development to inspire and empower local youth.
In partnership with the 1% Kid Foundation, Active Children Portland, and Portland Tennis & Education, the event created an engaging experience centered on growth, confidence, and opportunity for young participants.
The day featured activities both on the field and in the classroom, helping youth build skills, challenge themselves, and strengthen belief in their own potential.
A special thank you goes to Channing Chasten from the 1% Kid Foundation for leading and engaging youth through the organization’s core principles of Practice, Perseverance, and Patience.
“It was incredible to watch our youth step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and support one another throughout the day,” said PCFC leadership. “This event was a powerful reminder that collaboration over competition creates lasting impact for our community.”
Every participant left the event with a soccer ball, wristband, and a copy of The 1% Kid book — reinforcing that their personal growth journey continues long after the event ends.
PCFC is deeply grateful to all partner organizations, volunteers, and supporters who helped make Lit & Play Day a meaningful and memorable experience for our youth.
